Recipe
1. Dough
all-purpose flour / plain flour 8.75 oz (250 g) • powdered sugar 1.75 oz (50 g) • unsalted butter 5.25 oz (150 g) • chicken egg 1 pc
Measure flour into a bowl, add sugar, sliced butter and egg.

Knead the coherent dough, allow it to rest for half an hour in the cold place.
3. Filling
semi skimmed milk 1,5% 1.1 cup (250 ml) • ground poppy seeds 6.25 oz (180 g)
Bring milk in a pot to the boil, pour in ground poppy seeds and stir.

Pour the seeds in the mixture of sugar and poppy seeds and stir. Allow it it cool.

Take the dough out of the cold place and use a rolling pin to spread part of the dough on floured board. Cut out motives based on the particular occasion and place them in refrigerator.

Knead the leftovers with the separated part of the dough and use a rolling pin to spread it on floured board into a circle. Cut out circle from parchment paper in the size of inner part of the baking form. Place paper on the dough, turn it upside down and place it in the form.

Press the dough up to the edges of the form.

Spread the filling over the dough.

Lay the cut-out motives on the filling, brush them with beaten egg and sprinkle with candied fruit. Bake the cake in preheated oven at 170-355°F (180°C). Bake for 35-40 minutes.

Allow the finished cake to cool well, then, transfer the cake, using the parchment paper on which the cake was baked, to the platter. Cut it and serve.
